Been a long time, you thought I left you? : )

Like whoa, another gap in posting…and for of the 3 of you who read this, I’m sorry. I have GOT to get on a more regular schedule here, actually, no, I PROMISE to get on a more regular schedule…yep, at least once a day! I’ll also do 200 push-ups every morning, and cure feline diabities…

Promise.

Okay, maybe not, but I’ll make it a goal to post something once to twice a week. (Maybe.)

Anyway, just finishing up a new EP (slash, borderline, small LP) to drop in the next month…hoping to have the cover art done w/in a week or two, wrapping up several tracks, getting songs mixed properly, etc. It’s going to be of a bit more of an acoustic, laid-back flare this go around; less kinetic sample collages and more long-form grooves…almost triphop-ie in spots (but, I will NEVER actually call it that), and also featuring an INCREDIBLE remix from my friends at Golden Veins (formerly Beati Paoli).  Should be dope-a-rope…

Some new stuff this week…

Whoa…been a while. Don’t worry though, I’ve been productive! Plenty of new beats and finally figuring out a track list for the next EP, cover art, remixing, some radio promo, etc…Hoping to get together w/Central Standard this week to sort out the release date and what not too.

Anyway, expect a track or two up here this week, in the meantime, here’s a video by Shannon Garcia (head of the  talent-laden Aqui Estamos Records). It’s promo for a show they have coming in early February (see the flyer beneath the video, if I can figure out the upload), but the video also features a quirky remix I did of one of their artist’s (Cashes Rivers) a few years back…enjoy!:

Updates…

What a great weekend! Thanks to everyone at Central Standard Records for helping to roll out the 2d Man EP so smoothly, and thanks to everyone out there that downloaded it! (Hopefully, some of you come back to check out the blog every now and again.)

Within the next few weeks, I should have a track or two up here to preview the next release…it’ll be one that stretches the definition of “EP” a little bit (which, per wikipedia: “contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify as an LP“) as it’ll likely stretch to the 25-30 minute mark. I should just go ahead and call it an album (or, “LP“) but I just don’t want to commit to that at the moment, seeing as the EP’s due by the end of the month (-ish) and I want to make sure the entire thing’s quality…I have about 8 tracks about done for it, and about 2-3 more in the pipeline, so there will likely be a few cuts in what I use.

OH, and speaking of the new EP, my good friend Mr. Grant has graciously provided some cover art….and it’s awesome, and it’s only the initial design, AND I smile ear-to-ear everytime I see it. Because of this, I’ll go ahead and post it below, for those not in the know, the design is a riff off of my usual Cyberman helmet, and the popular superhero deconstruction comic, MiracleMan. I have this on pretty good authority  that it’s going to be gangbusters…

2d MAN EP READY FOR DOWNLOAD!

After long last (and many unfufilled promises on my part), the 2d Man Ep is finally ready for mass consumption. Presented in part by myself and Central Standard Records: 2D Man, a D.I.Y. testament to what boredom, caffeine, and a sizeable record collection can produce: an audio collage masterpiece that is both dizzyingly brief and endlessly listenable, designed to occupy a sliver of a musical genre that encompasses comic-book funk, hip hop, 80’s electro, and Bossa Nova. Teaming with Central Standard Records as part of a series of instrumental releases through the year, 2d Man is the first promtional EP designed to drop up interest in Central Standard artists and their personal projects…

Been a while…

Again, I’ll begin w/an apology…been busy getting things ready for a series of releases w/central standard. (also, the winter weather and plenty of vacation didn’t help either : ) )

The good news is that the first in our series of instrumental EPs drops tomorrow (HOPEFULLY), the much promised ”2Dman ep” will finally be available for mass download! I’ve taken the liberty of updating the box player on the side w/some newer remixes and some tracks from said EP as well.

Updates. Remixes and EP download coming…

A lot of cool stuff happening at the moment, but I’ll keep it brief:

1. The Long (?) awaited “2d Man” Promo EP should be available for download in the next week or two. Waiting to complete the press packet and photos from my main-man Job. Also pretty cool, it’ll be on Manned Missiles new label, Central Standard (previously noteable for a slew of cool releases from Maxilla, Aeon, Gaiden, and Cleo!). Association w/them will make releasing stuff, and actually getting some traffic, a lot easier…

2. Working on a remix for my ABSOLUTE favorite Greek sample-head artist, Larry Gus. It’ll be one that’s out of my comfort zone…as I’ve been sampling nothing but about 80’s dance records I picked up from the Blind-Charity Thrift store. (Boom-click-Boom-clap.) Once you’ve heard Larry’s myspace, check out his blog…it’s in Greek!

New Remix! “Sign” by Boozoo Bajou

“Sign” — Manned Missiles’ remix

This started out as a practice remix, but has grown into a track I like quite a bit. For those who care (all none of you): kept quite a bit from the original song, it does retain the majority of the keyboards, cutup a lot of the brass (and added several samples of my own), replaced the drum break, and edited the guitars around. The biggest change I made in the dynamic was to remove all the lead vocals, and  make the chorus the main vox. I think this adds to the dubiness of the track, and I quite like it a lot! : 0

ANYWHO, should have some more remixes up here next week, have been having fun downloading remix packs and fenagling them in my spare time here (between Cleo, the Latin stuff (alm0st done!), and…you, know, my life). Chow.
